The LG VX1000 MIGO kid-friendly Cell Phone for Kids is pretty much at the top of the tree with regards to glowing reviews from previous purchasers.
This cell phone has been dubbed as the Shrek phone due to its green coloring and also because it sports a couple of twin stubby antenna at the top, just like Shrek, in a sense!
The phone goes beyond the somewhat flimsy Firefly and what to many is a very oddly shaped phone – the TicTalk.
The green hue coloring goes well with the black face in addition to the black keypad. It measures some 3.23 inches in height, by 1.81 inches in widtch and 0.87 inches in depth (or thickness, if you prefer). It weighs in at 2.46 ounces (69.7 grams), and with these dimensions and light weight, its perfect for the small hand and for a small pocket to boot!
It may not be quite of the same sturdy build as the TicTac, but it still boasts a nicely solid feel to it.
The monochrome screen is fairly small at 96 x 32 pixels but it still manages to clearly display signal strength, time, caller ID and also battery life. The clock is set by the network on auto so no need to fiddle around trying to figure out how to set that.
Just below the display area is the on/off button and the large talk button for when an incoming call needs answering. The phone is also capable of storing up to four pre-programmed telephone numbers.
On the outer, down the side are the headset jack and the volume control. There is also a speakerphone so there is no true requirement to hold the phone up to the ear whilst talking.
Whilst some may say its not so easy to use until you get a grasp of the basics, its easier to use than its competitors.
The LG Migo VX1000 is certainly one of the best cell phones for kids and at at price tag of $49.99 US dollars, its most definitely one to be considered by any parent!
